Online database for smart and sustainable tourism solutions in the Black Sea Basin

Innovative ventures, technological solutions, and viable business models for sustainable tourism from Bulgaria, Greece, Moldova, and Turkey are now featured in the best-practice database developed under the INTERSMARTS project.

The database has been carefully structured and made searchable across several key research dimensions:

  • Challenge-based solutions (e.g. sustainable infrastructure, waste management, seasonality solutions, technology transfer)
  • Source of innovation (applied research, practical experience)
  • Tourism subsector (accommodation, transportation, attractions, food services, etc.)
  • Geographical coverage (Black Sea Basin regions and beyond)

Information was gathered by the inter-university INTERSMARTS network using shared research templates, through collaboration with professional and citizen researchers, and by combining desk research with field interviews involving companies, destination management authorities, community leaders, NGOs, freelance experts, and other stakeholders.

At present, the best practices are available as HTML texts, with downloadable factsheets to be added in the coming months.
